Olivia McLeod, Psychotherapy Intern
Psychotherapy Intern
SHE/HER, accepts sliding scale
Olivia holds a BA in Psychology from Chapman University and is currently working toward her MS in Couple and Family Therapy from Purdue University Northwest. She comes to Balanced Life with a year of experience working with individuals, couples, and families at the Purdue Northwest Couple and Family Therapy Center and a history of working with teens and families in community mental health.
Olivia is deeply fascinated by the complexity and beauty of humans and our relationships. She is an LGBTQIA+ and Consensual Non-Monogamy affirming therapist, passionate about working with relationships and individuals of diverse structures and identities. Olivia strives to honor each client's unique story and identity from a curious and culturally humble point of view while recognizing systems of injustice.
Olivia's therapeutic approach centers on Attachment Theory and Internal Family Systems (IFS) from a strongly trauma-informed perspective. She utilizes experiential methods from an eclectic toolbox, including Gottman Method therapy, Psychodrama, and Narrative Therapy. She believes that through action, creativity, and deep emotional experience, the greatest healing is possible. Whether clients are coming to therapy as part of their individual healing journey or to repair and strengthen relationships, Olivia will make the process collaborative every step of the way. When she sees what works for clients, she leans into it as much as possible.
Outside of the therapy room, you can find Olivia in the pottery studio, on a road trip, or eating pasta with friends.
