Lead With Purpose: We’re Hiring a Clinical Supervisor

At Balanced Life Counseling (BLC), we believe in leading with empathy, collaborating with intention, and building spaces where both clients and clinicians feel seen, supported, and empowered. Our practice is rooted in community, driven by heart, and grounded in clinical excellence.

As we grow, we’re seeking a Clinical Supervisor who is both a seasoned therapist and a steady, values aligned leader. This role is ideal for someone who loves mentoring provisionally licensed clinicians, can hold accountability with care, and wants to strengthen the clinical foundation of a trauma informed, LGBTQIA+ affirming practice.


What You’ll Experience as Clinical Supervisor

At BLC, supervision is not a checkbox. It is a relational container that supports growth, protects client care, and strengthens the confidence and competence of our clinicians. You will play a central role in shaping clinical quality while staying connected to the work through your own caseload.


Your Role at a Glance

Clinical supervision and mentorship

You will provide consistent, structured supervision that supports both clinical skill and clinician sustainability.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide a minimum of 1 hour per week of supervision per provisionally licensed clinician

  • With the founder, be available for clinical questions and provision between supervision sessions when needed

  • Support case conceptualization, ethical decision making, and scope of practice

  • Aid  clinicians in building strength in  self care practices, pacing, and sustainability

  • Provide clear guidance around clinician duties and expectations within a group practice setting

Documentation and chart oversight

You will help protect clinical quality and practice integrity through strong documentation standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure supervisees maintain accurate charts and timely documentation

  • Maintain your own documentation consistently and on time

  • Identify documentation patterns or gaps early and provide coaching to course correct

  • Support compliance aligned clinical record keeping and clarity in notes

Clinical support in complex and high stakes situations

With the Founder, you will be a steady clinical presence when things get intense and help contain risk with clarity and care.

Responsibilities include

  • Consult on crisis situations, including safety planning, risk assessment, mandated reporting, and escalation pathways

  • Support clinicians in navigating high stress or high conflict client dynamics

  • Balance micro support for the clinician with macro awareness of practice standards and risk management

Practice culture and leadership presence

You will help shape how it feels to work here, not through perfection, but through consistency, honesty, and care.

Responsibilities include

  • Model BLC culture through grounded presence and clinical integrity

  • Hold accountability with empathy and direct communication

  • Provide specific constructive feedback and evaluation that supports growth

  • Lead with collaboration, humility, and steady confidence

  • Approach hard conversations with relational skill, not avoidance

Community connection and referral partnerships

You will support the practice’s long term strength by staying connected to the wider community of care.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the Founder in maintaining resources, referrals, and partnership relationships

  • Contribute to the practice’s reputation through professionalism and relationship building

  • Help strengthen referral pathways aligned with our client population and values

Maintain a client caseload

To stay connected to the work and the realities clinicians are holding, you will also see clients.

Responsibilities include

  • Carry an ongoing caseload as a practicing clinician, completing at least 15 clinical hours per week

  • Maintain strong clinical boundaries, ethical care, and documentation standards


Who You Are

You are a fully licensed clinician in Illinois who brings warmth, clarity, and steadiness into the room. You understand that great supervision is both supportive and structured.

You are someone who:

  • Enjoys mentoring and developing clinicians

  • Brings both compassion and directness to feedback

  • Can zoom in and zoom out, supporting the clinician while also protecting the practice

  • Stays calm in emotionally charged situations

  • Communicates clearly, listens deeply, and leads with presence


Qualifications

Required

  • Fully licensed in Illinois as LCPC, LCSW, or LMFT

  • Minimum 6 years of clinical experience

  • Formal training in clinical supervision

  • Strong cultural competence and commitment to inclusive, affirming care

  • Ability to provide specific constructive feedback and evaluation

  • Strong interpersonal skills, approachable, excellent listening, emotionally attuned communication

  • Strong background in one or more of the following areas

    • LGBTQIA+ community and gender affirming care

    • Trauma and complex trauma

    • Romantic relationships and relational dynamics

Preferred

  • Prior experience providing clinical supervision

  • Experience supporting clinicians in group practice settings


Location and Schedule

We value in-office presence to foster collaboration, accessibility, and connection within the team. This role follows a hybrid schedule, with a combination of in-person work at our Humboldt Park/Logan Square location and remote telehealth days. The Clinical Supervisor is expected to maintain a consistent on-site presence while also utilizing telehealth flexibility as appropriate.
