AELIJAH LYNCH, LPC, MDiv

Licensed Professional Counselor,

THEY/THEM

Aelijah M. Lynch is a Licensed Professional Counselor (IL License No. 178.020208). They earned a Master of Arts in clinical mental health counseling with a certificate in sex therapy from Adler University, as well as religions studies at American University (BA) and the University of Chicago (MDiv). Prior to clinical practice, they made a living in the hospitality industry to support their work for community anti-racism, LGBTQ+ rights organizing, and human rights activism, both locally and internationally.

In these hard times, Aelijah has worked with people to live authentically and thrive without dismissing the struggles they're facing. Their practice stands on a foundation of Relational Cultural Theory, a feminist approach which focuses on developing relational health and mutuality while also identifying how systems of power and oppression impact our relationships and individual lives and how to resist those systems. Aelijah also draws from Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). While creating a supportive, empathic, accepting environment, Aelijah also offers the “push” their clients seek and encourages feedback. They aim to find the right balance of warmth and push with each and every person they work with.

Outside of therapy land, Aelijah stays connected to their roots in hospitality, spends time with friends, plays video and card games, and naps with their cat, Nyx.
